How to rank #1 on Pinterest with PinClicks
| Studying the designs top ranking pins within your niche on Pinterest is the first step in taking that #1 spot. For a long time I was in the dark on which pins on Pinterest were saved and clicked on the most. So I basically just made my best guess... often based on what was ranking kind of high for a search and looked the prettiest. But now, once I figured there was a way to ask Pinterest to tell you how many saves a pin has, it was a game-changer for me. The number of pin saves is often correlated with clicks. The more saves, the more clicks. (You just need to make sure you create clickable pins and topics) How to Optimize Your Pins to Rank #1 To be clear, when I say rank #1, I mean to rank #1 in the Pinterest search results for a keyword. Optimizing your pins for the following will help increase your chances: 1. Include the target keyword in your pin title. 2. Include the target keyword in you pin description. 3. Include highly relevant annotated interests in your pin description. 4. Have a visually appealing image. 5. Include relevant and appealing text in your image.* 6. Target the correct user intent. 7. Be timely and relevant * Only if the top ranking pins for that search are doing it and/or it's going to link to primarily a text-based blog post. That's a lot of ranking factors and things to pay attention to. So what I like to do is model top ranking pins for all these factors. Which is why I built the Top Pins tool in PinClicks because it helps me instantly see the top ranking pins and their most important stats that tell me if they're worth modeling. Here's what to look for in top ranking pins on Pinterest:
Then, this is really important... Find your unique angle with your pin. Don't just create an exact copy of the top search results. Create a slightly new, better idea than what you currently see. For example, make your idea "easier" or trendier, or simpler or for a situations, or demographic. If you get stuck with coming up with a unique idea, ask ChatGPT. I find it's an excellent brainstorming buddy. Pinterest loves the combination of broad ideas it knows about paired with brand new ideas it doesn't know about. But, you have to start with a broad idea. It's like getting your foot in the door. Once you've done that, then surprise Pinterest with a fresh new idea. (Which is best showcased in a pin title).
