Stop using Pinterest Trends until you read this
| If you're just using Pinterest Trends for keyword research, listen up... First, I believe Pinterest Trends is a great Pinterest keyword research tool, but it will never be "good enough" and here's why... Everything you find on Pinterest Trends is going to be the most popular searches on the platform. Targeted searches is great, but that counts for maybe 25% of the Pinterest traffic you'll get (my guestimation). (Plus, they are the most competitive keywords you'll find). So where's the majority of our Pinterest traffic coming from? 1) The home feed 2) Related pins So if you're only using Pinterest Trends for your keyword research, you're only doing half of the research you should be doing... So what's the other half? Pinterest search suggestions Pinterest interest ideas The old way of doing keyword research with Pinterest search was to take a keyword and put it into their search box and write down all the suggestions it showed in the dropdown:
Then here's the second part of this strategy... Enter your "seed" target keyword (like "outfits"), then append the letter "A" to the end to see which new search suggestions appear. Then copy those down.
And basically repeat this process for letters B-Z. Which can be super time consuming to do manually. Instead, I just plugin in my seed keyword into PinClicks' Keyword Research tool and it does this for me within seconds. And I end up with a huge list of keywords...
The key to choosing Pinterest search keywords... So in this example, I ended up with like 300 keywords. That's a lot of review and filter through. Which is why I build the Popularity feature and a filter to just show keywords with the highest popularity score:
The popularity score simply means that those keywords with the highest score are the ones that showed up first in the search suggestion dropdown when we queried Pinterest for the seed keyword plus a letter. This means you can see all the highly related keyword/searches Pinterest recommends the most for any topic. (But it doesn't necessarily mean that a keyword with the highest popularity score always gets more searches than ones with a lower score) What's great about this tool is that it's going to pull in real keywords people are searching for on Pinterest that you can't always find on Pinterest Trends. Plus, you can click on any keyword in the results and you can drill down further on that to find long-tail keywords for it. These long-tail keywords make for excellent pin titles to target ;) 👀 Tomorrow's email: I'll show you how to target official "Interests" to get more visibility of your pins within the Pinterest home feed and related pins.
